Hurricane Isaac, and highlights from the RNC in Tampa.
It’s a time of waiting and worrying for people in the Boston area who have family in New Orleans.
Hurricane Isaac has helped to send gas prices skyrocketing.
Lt. Commander Marty Simpson is watching Isaac closely because he was one of the rescue crews who responded to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
The rest of FEMA Task Force 1 is on alert in case they need to go. Seven years ago, the same team was sent in to help after Hurricane Katrina.
As Hurricane Isaac threatens the Gulf again, we will see if Katrina and Isaac serve as bookends of GOP hostility to federal disaster relief. An odd stance for a party that claims to “choose life” while watching people die in natural disasters rather than provide an adequate response.
What should the Republicans do with their convention if the big storm hits New Orleans? Why not seize the chance to explain how they can help it recover?
So, with all due concern for damage and risk, I’m kind of hoping we do see a big storm in Tampa next week.
