Car Free Week
Massachusetts is celebrating Car-Free Week. It’s a week where the state encourages everyone to find a different way of getting to work.
Massachusetts is going car-free this week, or at least that’s what officials are hoping for.
Two days after Governor Deval Patrick was caught by WBZ-TV going to work in an SUV for the start of “Car Free Week,” the governor took the T into the city Wednesday.
While Car-Free week is a well-meaning stunt it’s no substitute for a serious, long-term commitment to ditching the car.
Governor Deval Patrick announced he will take public transportation Wednesday. He will board the Red Line in Mattapan and take it to South Station.
Governor Patrick was quick to admit that he probably hadn’t set the best example Monday.
