Boxing the compass
Cold air left over from Friday & Saturday’s cold remains firmly in place Sunday morning. Spotty freezing drizzle moved through overnight forming a light glaze on untreated surfaces. A warm front is stationed along our south coast. Dense […]
Steady Showers are being directed up the CT river valley for the morning hours with lighter showers across eastern MA. By afternoon, the steady showers in the west will begin to shift eastward for the afternoon and evening.
Periodic light showers will be shifting to SE MA and the Cape for the Afternoon where it will remain a bit damp. It is a dry day in Boston points, N & W. Clearing skies with drier air will try to push to the coast but it will not be easy. Sunshine in western New England should arrive near Worcester by 2 or 3 PM. It will take the entire day for the clearing line t reach the coast unfortunately. Winds are lighter today out of the NNE. With clouds and cool wind off the water…60′s and Lwr 70′s at the beaches, Lwr-mid 70′s inland where we will see some increasing afternoon sunshine.
That dry air will begin to erode some of the low cloud cover this afternoon…with breaks of sun forming inland. The front will stall as it approaches SE MA…so clouds will remain pretty locked in at the coast for much of the day. With light onshore winds….expect temps to remain in the 50′s with Lwr-mid 60′s farther inland away from the cooler water temps.
Temps are quickly responding to sunshine as highs will climb into the mid-uppr 50′s this afternoon with lighter WNW winds with gusts to 20mph.
Light showers and sprinkles around dawn have pushed off the coast. Drier air is on the move! Morning clouds are breaking giving way to increasing sunshine. I expect this erosion of cloud cover to continue […]
Near record warmth is likely today with a big upper level ridge along the east coast providing sunshine with highs climbing into the 60′s nearing 70.
Big blue high pressure sitting over us is providing a calmer day with less of a wind chill factor. This high will be pulling off the coast and begin to wrap in warmer SW during the afternoon. This will allow temps to continue to rise through the day…but it will be a slow warming. In fact it will take the entire day of warming just to reach 32 degrees. But this will feel a whole lot better than yesterday! High clouds will continue to increase making for filtered sunshine this afternoon
Sunny dry and breezy SW winds today, Gusts to 20 to 30 mph by midday and afternoon. Highs will be cooler than yesterday…58 to 64. There are clouds in the far northern and western reaches of New England associated with an upper low which continues to lift into Canada. Those clouds will primarily stay there, but a few puffy cu’s may pop with the heating of the day across the interior. Winds will be diminishing tonight with lows dropping into the 40′s with clear to partly cloudy skies.
Monday will be a hot and more humid day with hazy sunshine and scattered afternoon storms. Most areas will reach near 90 degrees.
