Mike Lowell was drafted by the Yankees, and played eight games for them in 1998 before being traded to the Florida Marlins. Lowell ended up being a contract dump for Florida in the 2005 Josh Beckett-Hanley Ramirez swap, but ended up being the 2007 World Series MVP for Boston.
