Potential Celtics Free Agent Targets

The Boston Celtics have just four players signed for the 2012-13 NBA season, meaning Danny Ainge will be busy this summer. C Roy Hibbert

Hibbert is a restricted free agent, meaning the Pacers can match any deal, but the Celtics are expected to make a big run at the 25-year-old center. Hibbert set new career highs in 2012, averaging 12.8 points and 8.8 rebounds. The Georgetown product has rounded into one of the best centers in the NBA, and would be a huge pickup for Boston. G Jason Terry

Terry would fill the veteran shooter roll off the bench perfectly. G OJ Mayo

F Jason Thompson

If the Celtics want to get young, Thompson would be a great start. A restricted free agent from the Sacramento Kings, the 25-year-old center averaged 9.1 points and 6.9 rebounds in 2012. G Danny Green

24-year-old point guard Danny Green will be a heavily sought-after free agent this summer after a great season for the Spurs. Green averaged 9.1 points while shooting 44-percent in 66 games, including 38 starts. He is also a very effective rebounder for his size, and would be a perfect role player for Boston off the bench. F Kris Humphries

Although he is more popular for whom he was briefly married to, Humphries could absolutely help the Celtics on the boards. Humphries started 62 games for the Nets last season, averaging 13.8 points and 11 rebounds per game. C Brook Lopez

Another marquee center that is a restricted free agent this summer, Lopez would be a big impact pickup for Boston. A great offensive player, Lopez needs to improve his rebounding and stay healthy. F Steve Novak

If the Celtics need some three-point shooting, Steve Novak could be their man. He made just $1 million with the Knicks in 2012, but led the NBA shooting 47-percent from three-point land. G Andre Miller

The 12-year veteran guard made $7.8 million for the Nuggets in 2012, coming off the bench in all but seven of the 66 games. Should the Celtics need another shooting guard, Courtney Lee would help them both on offense and defense. A restricted free agent, Houston would be able to match any offer Lee gets, but his price tag won’t be all that high after making $2.2 million in 2012. F/C Reggie Evans

If the Celtics want rebounding, Reggie Evans is their man. He is a rugged, and sometimes dirty, rebounder and defender, and would fit in nicely with the Celtics’ defensive mentality. Evans is very limited on offense (we’ll come out and say it, he has NO offense), but is one of those players you love to have on your team, but hate playing against him. F Jason Maxiell

Maxiell could give the Celtic some size and defense off the bench, but has a $5 million player option to return to Detroit. A great player in the paint, Maxiell averaged 5.1 rebounds and nearly a block a game in 2012. Another impressive young player, DJ White is a restricted free agent the C’s might take a look at. Jones has a player option for $2.9 million with the Pacers, but would be a nice fit off the bench for Boston. A solid defender and rebounder, the eight-year veteran would be a great role player for the team that originally drafted him in 2003 (before shipping him with Troy Bell to Memphis for Marcus Banks and Kendrick Perkins). When the LA Clippers did not acquire Ray Allen at the deadline, they swung a deal for swingman Nick Young. The 6-7 forward had an up-and-down season between the Wizards and Clippers, averaging 14.2 points, but didn’t do much else; he averaged just 2.1 rebounds and less than assist per game.
