Red Sox In April: Who Was Hot, Who Was Not
-
HOT - Jed Lowrie
April Stats: .368 BA, 3 HR, 12 RBI, 5 2B, 25 H
Lowrie started to see more playing time after the first week of the season and made the most of it. At a time when the Red Sox lineup was completely stagnant, Lowrie led the charge. He drove in 12 runs over an eight game span in the middle of the month. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

NOT - Carl Crawford
Aprils Stats:.155 BA, 17 K, HR, 6 RBI
Month one of his 7-year mega deal did not go as well as planned, with Crawford looking pressed and anxious at the plate. He hit in four different spots in the order, and none of them seemed to work. But don’t be surprised if Crawford starts looking like his old self as the summer months roll around. (Photo by Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)

HOT - Jon Lester
April Stats: 3-1, 2.52 ERA, 39.1 IP, 35 K, 14 BB
Known for usually starting the season very cold, Lester did his best to keep the Sox from hitting rock bottom. The lefty ace went 7+ innings three times and held opposing hitters to a .218 batting average. (Photo by Rob Carr/Getty Images)

NOT- John Lackey
April Stats: 2-3, 5.65 ERA, 28.2 IP, 34 H, 10 BB
Lackey was hit hard in his first two starts of the season, giving up 15 runs in just 8.2 innings pitched. Lackey still picked up the win in the Red Sox home opener when Boston put up nine runs against the Yankees. Lackey has pitched much better his last two outings, giving up just one run in 14 innings. HOT - Josh Beckett
April Stats: 2-1, 2.65 ERA, 34 IP, 32 K
Many were worried about Beckett entering the season, but he silenced the critics early on. Beckett allowed just three runs over a three start span, twice making it into the eighth inning. He held opposing hitters to a .169 average and walked only nine over 34 innings. (Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)
-
NOT - Clay Buchholz
Aprils Stats: 1-3, 5.33 ERA, 27 IP, 34 H, 15 K, 16 BB
Buchholz had a lackluster April after his breakout 2010 campaign. Opposing batters are hitting .318 off him, and he’s walked more than he has struck out. Buchholz has already allowed six home runs after only giving up nine in 2010. (Photo by Rob Carr/Getty Images)

NOT - Jarrod Saltalamacchia
April Stats: .216 BA, 0 HR, 6 RBI, 16 K
Saltalamacchia may have driven in the game-winning run in the Red Sox home opener against the Yankees, but he hasn’t done much more. He hit .216 with 6 RBIs for the month of April, and also had his issues behind the plate as well. (Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images)

NOT - Jason Varitek
April Stats: .111 BA, RBI, 13 K
As bad as Saltalamacchia was in April, Varitek was worse. Tek went just 4-for-36 and struck out 13 times. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)
