Todd Gutner

 Todd GutnerTodd Gutner is WBZ-TV’s AccuWeather Meteorologist for WBZ-TV News at 5PM, 6PM and 11PM as well as WBZ-TV News at 10PM on sister-station myTV38 (WSBK-TV). He also contributes weather reports to Boston’s CBS radio stations, and he anchors the seasonal weekly news series “Gardening with Gutner.” WBZ AccuWeather is the “Official Forecast of NESN’s Red Sox Coverage” featuring the WBZ-TV team of AccuWeather Meteorologists: Barry Burbank, Todd Gutner, and Joe Joyce.

Gutner joined WBZ-TV from WCSH-TV (NBC) in Portland, ME and sister station WLBZ-TV (NBC) in Bangor, ME where he served as weekend meteorologist for the 6PM and 11PM newscasts. He was also meteorologist for the Monday-Wednesday noon newscasts on both stations. In addition, Gutner served as meteorologist on the weekend 10PM newscasts on WPXT-TV (CW) in Westbrook, ME. Before he came to Maine, Gutner began his career as a meteorologist at KGO-TV in San Francisco, CA as a weather producer.

Gutner holds a degree in meteorology from the State University of New York at Oneonta. He was born and raised in West Hartford, CT, and is a self-proclaimed “Red Sox fanatic.” Todd enjoys playing sports, gardening and most of all spending time with family. He and his wife Rachel proudly welcomed twins to the family in September 2009, son Brody and daughter Lila.

A Solid Soaking…

The average date of the first frost in Boston is November 7th…it happened this morning…Boston slipped to 32 degrees at 6:04 AM. Some towns were in the teens at sunrise…Norwood 18 and Taunton 19! Tonight won’t be as bad as last night, we have pretty good cooling conditions right now and we will dip into 30s before temps level out as clouds arrive overnight.

Premature Cold…

Welcome to a new month…November…one of my least favorite months of the year. Usually a gray and raw month the outlook for the first few days are promising with lots of sun, add to that some lingering rusty foliage and I kind of like it! I’m even willing to overlook the nearly 10 degree below normal temps…I see it now as refreshingly crisp!
