Rick Simonson is the morning traffic reporter on WBZ Newsradio 1030, Monday through Friday from 5AM to 10:30AM. He has been voted Boston’s best traffic reporter twice in three years at the Boston A.I.R. Awards. (1997 & 1999)
Prior to joining WBZ Newsradio in 1997, Simonson was the morning news anchor for WCRB Radio in Waltham. He also worked as an anchor and reporter for WEEI Radio in Boston for 10 years. Simonson says he covered all kinds of stories, but the many facets of the tragic Charles Stuart story is the one he remembers most.
Simonson began his broadcasting career in 1975 at WCIB Radio in Falmouth as a disc jockey. He also held news anchor and reporter positions at WGTR Radio in Natick, WPLM Radio in Plymouth and WHDH Radio in Boston.
Born in Norwich, Connecticut, Simonson has lived in Massachusetts most of his life. He attended Massasoit Community College and Northeast Broadcast School in Boston. A survivor of kidney cancer, he currently resides with his wife, Patti, in Ipswich, Massachusetts.
