Eric Fisher is Chief Meteorologist for CBS Boston’s WBZ-TV News and anchors weather segments weeknights at 5PM, 6PM, and 11PM, as well as WBZ-TV News at 10PM on myTV38 (WSBK-TV).
“I’ve lived in New England most all of my life, and I am thrilled to return home to Massachusetts and join the outstanding team of meteorologists at WBZ-TV,” said Fisher about the move to WBZ-TV News. “Like every member of the ‘BZ weather team, I’ve loved weather from a young age. I distinctly recall Memorial Day of 1995, when the infamous tornado ripped through Great Barrington. I was glued to the weather reports and the meteorologists showing active radar screens, and I knew this was the job for me. Plus, my wife and I are life-long fans of the Sox, Bruins, Patriots, and Celtics. It feels great to be back in the area.”
Fisher joins WBZ-TV News from The Weather Channel in Atlanta where he spent three years as a Meteorologist producing and delivering national forecasts and contributing numerous live reports on extreme weather for The Weather Channel, NBC Nightly News, TODAY, and MSNBC. Some of the most notable events Fisher reported from include the Moore, OK tornado in 2013; the 2011 tornado Super Outbreak; Hurricanes Sandy, Irene, and Isaac; and the massive blizzards that essentially shut down New York City in December of 2010 and Boston in February of 2013. Recent times have unfortunately provided no shortage of natural disasters.
Before that, Fisher served as a freelance weekend meteorologist for WFXT-TV in Boston. He began his distinguished career at WGGB-TV in Springfield, MA, where he spent four years as a Meteorologist and Anchor. He started at WGGB-TV anchoring weekend weathercasts and then moved to weekday morning weathercasts, contributing weathercasts across broadcast and digital platforms as well as writing a column for the Springfield Republican and reporting on a number of environmental stories. A supporter of science and learning, Eric is also a member of both the Mount Washington Observatory and the Blue Hill Observatory here in New England. Eric is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY) earning a B.S. degree majoring in Atmospheric Science with a minor in Mathematics.
In addition to anchoring the WBZ-TV News AccuWeather reports weeknights on WBZ-TV News at 5, 6 and 11PM and WBZ-TV News at 10PM on myTV38, Fisher’s duties as Chief Meteorologist include working with the weather team to develop the content and delivery of weathercasts across broadcast and digital platforms, create and report on environmental stories in newscasts, and produce weather special events and programs.
Boston’s WBZ-TV and sister-station myTV38 (WSBK-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation
It was nice to get a little late summer comeback, but I think the party may be officially over.
Is it just me, or has almost every weekend since the start of June been epic?

So long sweet summer? Maybe not. Don’t get me wrong – I love fall. Oktoberfest beers flowing, trees laden with apples, pumpkins dotting New England farmland, a fire of foliage. But there’s something melancholy about […]
While the desert southwest turns into a temporary Florida, New England continues to dry out.
Some areas have already seen frost.
The sun has been throwing temper tantrums this week, and pretty spectacular ones at that.
Several times in the past few months, I’ve seen the year 1992 come up. Coincidence? Maybe. But with the DELUGE of interest in the upcoming winter lately (why rush??), I figured I’d give it a […]
