Tutoring Resources in Boston

We've all been there. The teacher goes over the material in class, yet you or your child still has a foggy understanding of the lesson taught. Or there's a major standardized test—Advanced Placement exam, SATs, GREs, GED, GMAT, LSATs…you name it—which you have to take and pass yet you have little idea about the necessary strategies to achieve your desired score. We've compiled a list of tutoring resources in the Boston area for those still in school and those returning to the classroom that just need a little bit of extra help.

826 is a non-profit organization that offers after-school tutoring to students from grades One through 12. Students can also receive one-on-one attention from trained tutors on subjects such as math science, history and English. Besides tutoring services, 826 offers writing workshops on Saturdays such as "Gross Science Experiments & Other Phenomena" and "Odes to Common Things". All programs offered by 826 are free.

The Boston Public Library has free drop-in homework help, academic support and mentoring for students in grades K-8 during the school year. The BPL also offers online SAT and ACT help for free. Check out their website for more information on when your local neighborhood branch offers this service.
