A melancholy wave has over taken the area with jabs of undulating guitar riffs and deep rooted alt/folk rhythm.  As you listen, you can't help but wonder when the barely contained vocals are gonna let loose into full blown screams of emotion.

Mean Creek has taken aim on getting into Boston's head, and is doing a pretty good job of it!

Frontman/guitarist Chris Keene sends a haunting shiver at you with what can be described as Cobaine meets Dylan.  Co-vocals and guitarist Aurore Ounjian further strengthens the folky aptitude with layers of harmonica and breakdowns of raw lyrical edginess.  The bottom end in this group is handled by Erik Wormwood on bass and Mikey Holland on drums.  Their strength and calmness really aid in lulling you in so you get trapped by this Mean Creek.

The band has been voted best new act for 2010 at the Boston Music Awards, a Top 10 Band to Watch in 2010 by the Boston Music Spotlight, a 2010 Best Music poll winner by the Boston Phoenix, as well as gathering praise in various major music publications from California to the U.K.

They have a previously released album "Around the Bend" from 2007 and a new album released in late 2009, "The Sky (Or The Underground)" which is receiving critical acclaim.  The band is currently touring and creating new music.

If you see this band come flowing into town you might want to step into this Mean Creek and let it wash over you.
