Kanes is great, but getting more & more expensive. $14.95/ doz now. (getting like the cost of donuts in Seattle, commonly 16-17/doz). Who is the Wellington Stn donut stand?
Some would say Betty Ann Food Shop’s donuts in East Boston, locals may say Verna’s donuts in North Cambridge, however I will have to agree with the previous gentleman – Kane’s Donuts in Saugus takes the cake…donut.
Your answer is right on! Those are my 3 picks too.
BUT, I found another place I like in a very unlikely location. The donut stand in Wellington Station. Only place I’ve ever been that offers a jelly donut in powdered, glazed or just plain. If you’ve ever tried to eat a donut on the run, you will appreciate the non-messiness of the plain jelly.
Not sure who owns this stand; the workers said the man owns 2 others. His donuts remind me very much of Kanes, but are cheaper.
