  3. OUI stands for operating under the influence, as in operating a motor vehicle

  4. In order to include ALL vehicles, DUI was changed to OUI. The argument was that people were declaring in court that people weren’t “driving” say, a jetski for example and thus could not be charged under the DUI which they said was meant only for driving an automobile. OUI is a more general term encompassing a wider range of machines
