A tornado touched down in Stoughton on Thursday.

NWS Confirms Tornado & Microburst In Stoughton

The National Weather Service confirmed on Friday that damage in the town of Stoughton resulted from a tornado that touched down on Thursday. A microburst was also confirmed about a mile away from the tornado zone.

The Weekend Prospects

After yesterday’s changeable weather of fog to showers to sunshine to thunderstorms to possible funnel clouds and perhaps one brief touchdown, tranquility will reign today. We will await the official assessment from an investigative meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Taunton on whether the damage in Stoughton was produced by a tornado or a small microburst.

Yesterday’s rainfall was very disappointing in much of the region as developing showers in the morning swiftly exited out of eastern MA. The formation of additional showers failed until the next spoke of energy arrived late in the evening.

Beneficial Rain At Last!

The lengthy stretch of splendid sunshiny days is now a pleasant memory. It has been advertised for a full week and, thankfully, the rain is going to materialize. Furthermore, it will be quite beneficial by decreasing the fire danger, temporarily cleansing the air of the tree pollens and providing some moisture for the lawns and gardens.
