While all eyes are on Hurricane Arthur right now…we need to monitor the thunderstorm situation this afternoon and most importantly this evening with Boston Pops Concert and fireworks at the Hatch Shell. Right now the air is primed for storm development…very warm and humid…and scattered storms are likely this afternoon.

4th Of July Fireworks Forecast: Tropical Downpours Possible Thursday, Friday

Tropical Storm Arthur is forming off the coast of Florida and, as luck would have it, will likely be making its closest pass by southern New England on Friday night, perhaps as a hurricane.

Watching The Tropics

While the temperature peaked at 90 in several communities north and west of Boston yesterday, the city came up short by 1 degree again. I am quite confident that Boston will have its first 90 degrees of the season today.

As the heat and humidity continue to build here in New England this week the tropics may be heating up too. A cluster of thunderstorms is likely to get its act together and form into the first tropical system of the season off of the Southeastern United States.
