Although Pet Love’s main purpose is to put pet-owners in contact with reliable, trustworthy pet sitters, dog walkers and pet taxi services, it also raises funds for many animal causes, including research into combating animal illnesses and treatment for animals suffering from partial paralysis and other disabilities. It also helps those willing to adopt such a disabled animal, or those animals in need of adoption. In November Pet Love will be running a day-long event at the Newtowne Grille in Billerica just north of Boston to raise funds for those causes, and to offer advice and information to those seeking to adopt or care for a disabled pet.

Last Hope K9 Rescue Massachusetts sponsors several events each month to encourage the adoption and fostering of dogs. They put on their October Adoption Event at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham on October 28, and held four similar events in the first half of November at Patriot Subaru in North Attleboro, Mertel Marina Bay and other locations in and around Boston. Their adoption events calendar is updated regularly, and while those for late November and December were not yet available at the time this report was compiled, they had several in the planning stages for November and December. Check for such events at www.lasthopek9.org/events
Almost every month Great Dog Rescue New England sponsors an event to help put rescue dogs and adoptive or foster parents together, or to raise money to help save at risk dogs. On November 12, for example, they were part of the “Pumpkin Fest” at Boston Harley Davidson in Revere. Although they have no street address or phone number, the GDRNE can be contacted through their website, and their members will help point people to the next such adoption event, or provide information or help to those either seeking to donate to their cause or to become involved, as well, of course, as to helping anyone who wants to adopt for foster a rescue dog.

Animal Rescue League Boston puts on a continuing series of ongoing events to raise funds for animal protection causes and to help with the neutering and adoption of strays and abandoned pets. They also have a “Spay Waggin’” that visits neighborhoods on Cape Cod and the South Shore to provide affordable neutering, and has a Community Cats Rescue Agent and Community Cat Volunteer Squad that provides neuter, trap and return services to neighborhoods. The organization also provides help for any person, group or organization that wants to support the Animal Rescue League and its causes through “Do it Yourself Fundraisers.”

The Boston Adoption Center is part of the MSCPA and provides services to help pets find new homes – and to help prospective pet-owners find and care for the right pet to adopt. They not only frequently sponsor education, fundraising and adoption events, but also encourage and provide support for personal fundraising activities, including everything from helping kids set up an apple cider stand to raise funds or awareness, or how to turn any event into a “Run Fur Fun” event to support animal adoption and other animal care causes.
