4-Year-Old Girl Struck, Killed By Comcast Truck In Holbrook

HOLBROOK (CBS) - A four-year-old girl was struck and killed by a truck in Holbrook Saturday afternoon.

It happened on Fargo Road around 1 p.m.

Holbrook Police Chief William Smith explained at the scene, "A young child was struck, four-years-old, was struck by a commercial vehicle, the child was transported to South Shore Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries...It's still under investigation but I can tell you she was running out in the street."

The driver of the Comcast service truck that hit the girl was hospitalized because he was so upset.

At the scene, police performed brake tests on the truck. It will likely be further tested as the investigation continues.

No word of any charges at this time.
