Shotgun Stolen From Chelmsford Police Cruiser Found After 'Intensive' Search
LOWELL (CBS) -- The shotgun taken from a stolen Chelmsford police cruiser early Thursday has been found.
Chelmsford Police say that after an "intensive investigation," the weapon stolen from the trunk of a detective's unmarked car was located in Lowell.
Police Chief James Spinney said Thursday that he believes two people were involved in the break-in and theft. The suspects broke into the house, took several sets of keys, and then drove off with the detective's Saturn wagon and the unmarked police car.
The shotgun was taken from the trunk of the unmarked cruiser.
Both vehicles were found less than a mile from where they were taken.
Police say that the incident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.
