Keller @ Large: The Too Much Information Age

BOSTON (CBS) - It's hard to know exactly how to label the times we live in, but here's a name that seems appropriate - how about calling this the "too much information age"?

Case in point - Thursday's tweetstorm by Aly Raisman, the Needham gymnast who has justifiably become a local heroine for her medal-winning Olympic performances?

It seems Raisman was passing through security at an unnamed airport when a female TSA guard spotted her, saying, according to a Raisman tweet: "I recognized you by your biceps" and then a male colleague chimed in, saying "I don't see any muscles," and according to Raisman, stared at her in a way she found "rude and uncomfortable."

First of all, those security guards should have kept their thoughts on Raisman's appearance to themselves. And if that guy doesn't see muscles on Aly Raisman, he's blind as well as rude. The thoughts of random people on a stranger's personal appearance are definitely too much information.

But then Raisman kept tweeting: "I am so sick of this judgmental generation," she wrote. "If you are a man who can't compliment a girls' muscles you are sexist. Get over yourself. Are you kidding me? It's 2017. When will this change?"

I don't blame Raisman for being annoyed, but wait a second.

Exactly what generation is she indicting over one guy acting like a jerk?

And who knows if the jerk wouldn't have also made a jerky remark about a male athlete's muscles?

Raisman's tweets were too much information as well, just like most of what appears on Twitter. They say silence is golden, and that has never seemed more true.
