Taunton River Canoers Find Body

TAUNTON (CBS) - Two people canoeing on the Taunton River Saturday came upon an unexpected sight.

The two people rowing along the stretch between Power Street and Duffy Drive saw something that looked like a body. The duo called police to report what they had found.

Taunton police and fire units responded to the call and found the body among some debris floating on the river.

Authorities confirmed that the body was that of a male, about 40-years-old, and that the body had been in the water for some time.

A dive team recovered the body and police sent it to the State Medical Examiner's office.

Authorities say there is no evidence of foul play.

Taunton Police Detectives and the Massachusetts State Police are investigating.
