The Mass for Dr. Lina Bolaños and Dr. Richard Field at Gate of Heaven Catholic Church was off-limits to the media. A private video stream for those who could not attend was available to their families.

"Without having met them – many of us imagine, see how it was their compassion for others that possibly drew them to each other. How their commitment to healing and to life – attracted them to each other," the homily included.

The couple were killed in their home last Friday night. Thirty-year-old Bampumim Teixeira has been charged with two counts of murder.

"Just very emotional. Everybody was crying, everybody sobbing. Just very sad," said one man at the funeral who did not wish to be identified.
