WILMINGTON (CBS) – Part of I-93 was shut down in Wilmington after a bad crash left three people with serious injuries Monday night.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash and three people were taken to the hospital.

The crash happened at about 10 p.m. between exits 38 and 39 when State Police said a Honda Fit crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer.

They said the Fit crossed several lanes, hitting a Chevrolet and then a guardrail. There, it was struck by a Honda Accord which then hit a tree.

State Police said the tractor-trailer continued on, and the driver has not been found yet.

They said a smaller, secondary crash happened north of the original crash, but that it was less serious.

All southbound lanes were closed and State Police diverted traffic off exit 40.

The lanes were re-opened around 12:20 a.m.
