Man Charged With 4th OUI After Hitting State Police Cruiser In Methuen

METHUEN (CBS) – A State Police trooper was injured in a crash caused by an alleged drunk driver Thursday night.

The trooper was working at a construction detail on I-495 South before exit 45 in Methuen when his cruiser was struck.

The suspect, 59-year-old Joseph Doiron of North Andover, was charged with OUI-liquor fourth offense, having an open container of alcohol, operating to endanger, speeding and marked lanes violation.

Both the trooper and Doiron were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of I-495 for about an hour.
