New Bedford House Fire Displaces 15

NEW BEDFORD (CBS) – Fifteen people are now looking for a place to stay after a triple-decker fire in New Bedford.

The fire broke out at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday on Ashley Boulevard. Investigators say it started in the attic and spread to two third-floor bedrooms.

Residents heard the smoke alarms and everyone got out safely.

Firefighters were able to knock down the flames in about 20 minutes.

The fire chief believes the building is not a total loss and can be salvaged.
