Rams' Trumaine Johnson Fined For Uncalled Facemasking Penalty On LeGarrette Blount

BOSTON (CBS) -- Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson has been fined $18,231 for grabbing the facemask of Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount during the Patriots 26-10 over the Los Angeles Rams at Gillette Stadium. Johnson was not penalized on the play.

The facemask occurred late in the second quarter after Blount ran for 6 yards on fourth-and-1. Johnson made the tackle then violently yanked Blount's facemask after the running back's knee was down.

Despite an official being mere feet away from the play and appeared to be looking right at it, there was no facemasking penalty called.

Rams running back Todd Gurley was also fined $9,115 by the league for a chop block on Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower. According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, Hightower was upset about the chop block during the game but spoke with Gurley after the game and did not believe the play was intentional.
