Boston's Best Places To Buy A Christmas Tree

The holiday season has arrived and not much provides a more festive feel than a fresh Christmas tree. Though Boston isn't exactly ripe with Christmas tree farms, there are plenty of places in and around the city to pick up a locally grown tree, or even cut down your own. Check out one of these farms or tree stands in the Boston area to help get you and your family in the holiday spirit.

Boston Christmas Trees in Allston is open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. leading up to Christmas Eve. The holiday business offers balsam and fraser fir trees, ranging from three feet tall to 12 feet high. Trees range in price from $15 to $125. Despite its name, Boston Christmas Trees offers more than just trees. They also sell wreaths, tree stands, and other decorations.

Open for four weeks every year, the Greenwood Tree Farm in Billerica offers customers the opportunity to cut their own tree or simply buy one that's already been cut. The farm has more than 500 trees this year. The cut your own tree experience costs $65 plus tax for any tree, while pre-cut trees are priced from $45-$75 depending on size. Greenwood Tree Farm does not accept credit cards, so be sure to bring check or cash. An ATM is located nearby in case you forget. And be sure to pick up a cup of complimentary warm apple cider!

You can pick up your tree at Smolak Farm, but the North Andover business also offers much more holiday fun for the whole family. As far as the trees go, Smolak Farms offers fresh cut or cut your own trees. You can cut your own tree daily from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m., or visit the tree lot from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. In addition, the farm offers a long list of holiday events including a visit from Santa, wreath designing demonstrations, cookies and crafts, and an American Doll breakfast. The family-run Indian Rock Farm offers another great option for cutting down your own Christmas tree. The tree farm is open on weekends only from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Indian Rock offers wreaths and greens in addition to trees. Customers are advised to check back online, because trees sometimes sell out by December 10. The Foxboro tree stand is also cash or check only and does not accept credit cards.
