Shop & Skate at City Hall Plaza

Boston's City Hall Plaza gets a holiday makeover starting this weekend. Lace up your skates on a custom designed, 11,00 square foot skating path. There are rentals available for a fee. Once you're done, stroll through the holiday chalets featuring dozens of vendors in the holiday shopping market. The 'Boston Winter' display will also feature Santa's House and a pedal powered tree. Northeast Comic Con
Cosplay, celebrity guests, and collectibles. Northeast Comic Con is always an interesting scene, and it comes to Shriner's Auditorium in Wilmington this Saturday and Sunday. The pop culture expo features, "things that appeal to fans of Comics, Collectibles, Movies, Television, Video Games, Cosplay, Personal Experiences, Nerd, Geek and Pop Culture." Celebrity appearances during the weekend include 'Superman' Dean Cain, members of the 70s-80s band Devo, Billy West of Ren & Stimpy and Futurama, and Sean Gunn – a.k.a. Kirk from Gilmore Girls. Holiday Arts Discounts
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh continues the tradition of offering discounted tickets to arts performances around the city this holiday season. The Mayor's Holiday Special features deals on more than 500 performances, including Langston Hughes' Black Nativity, The Christmas Revels, Handel's Messiah, Shear Madness, Fiddler on the Roof and several different version of The Nutcracker. La Salette Lights
One of the most beautiful holiday lights displays around, the Christmas Festival is back at La Salette Shrine in Attleboro. 300,000 lights illuminate 10 acres on the grounds. The lights are on from 5-9pm daily, and there is no fee to access the grounds. While there, you could visit the International Creche Museum, featuring hundreds of creches from around the world. Model Ship Show
If you appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into model ship building, this is a unique activity. Through January 7, the Masters of Miniatures Model Ship Show is taking place at the USS Constitution Museum. SoWa Winter Festival & Wine Riot
SoWa Boston kicks off the holiday shopping season with their annual Winter Festival. This weekend you'll find more than 100 local artisans and specialty food vendors. In conjunction, SoWa is hosting a Wine Riot Winter Wine Land on Thayer Street. There will be free wine sampling inside a huge heated tent as well as food trucks. MORE INFO: sowaboston.com
