Driver Held On $10,000 Bail In Fatal Brockton Hit-And-Run

BROCKTON (CBS) -- A man police say was driving the car that struck and killed a man in front of a Brockton bar early Friday morning has been arraigned in Brockton District Court.

Nilton Goncalves, 39, was taken into custody by State and Brockton Police at his home Tuesday morning in Brockton.

He was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail.

Prosecutors say the father of four confessed on Sunday, adding he panicked and took off after hitting 25-year-old Sergio Licona of Brockton, as Licona crossed the street in front of The Spot Bar And Lounge on North Main Street around 1:20 a.m. Friday.

Licona died of his injuries on Monday at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

His family is out of the country and now on their way to the U.S.
