Keller @ Large: Baker To Run In 2018?

BOSTON (CBS) -- With recent speculation that Newton Mayor Setti Warren will be running for Governor of Massachusetts in 2018, all eyes are on current Gov. Charlie Baker to see if he plans to run again.

Baker sat down with WBZ political analyst Jon Keller last week, and Keller asked him whether or not he would be a candidate for reelection.

"The Lieutenant Governor and I are going to talk about that sometime next year," said Baker. "I would say that she and I have a big agenda, we've been pursuing it aggressively. I'd say as long as I think we have something to offer to the people and to the voters of Massachusetts, it's certainly going to be something we'll consider."

As for now, Baker said he'll stay focused on policy and on running the state--something he said he gets a lot of support for from voters.

"I'm just going to concentrate on my day job, which is what I've been doing for the past two years," said Baker. "It's a job that I really enjoy, and I think frankly, that people appreciate the fact that that really has been our focus, in administration. I hear that all the time when I'm out and about, the fact that we just really seem to want to focus on the work is something the people appreciate, especially given the political season that just ended."

Keller and Baker also discussed the failed ballot initiative to raise the state's cap on charter schools, and the troubles surrounding the MBTA.
