Boston Police Mourn Death Of Retired K9 Officer

BOSTON (CBS) – Boston police are remembering one of their own – a retired K9 officer whose death was announced Thursday.

Cuba was a 9-year veteran of the force and trained in narcotics, the department wrote in a Facebook post.

He spent his whole career as the partner of Officer Lissette Garcia, who was the first female officer assigned to the department's K9 unit.

"On behalf of a grateful city, we acknowledge and thank Cuba for a career spent protecting and serving the citizens of our fine city," police wrote.
