Florida Man Refuses To Waive Extradition In Shooting Death

EASTON (CBS/AP) — A Florida man arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man in Massachusetts last week has refused to waive extradition.

Prosecutors say 47-year-old Michael Arthur Noguera will be held without bail in South Carolina while Massachusetts officials obtain a special warrant. Bristol County District Attorney's Office Thomas M. Quinn III says the process could take several weeks.

Noguera was arraigned in South Carolina Monday. He's been charged in Massachusetts with accessory to murder-after the fact, armed robbery and larceny over $250 in connection with the death of Daniel Smith.

The 35-year-old was found suffering from gunshot wounds by young boys riding their bikes in the woods in Easton, Massachusetts last Tuesday.

Smith was a former Easton resident who now lives in Florida. It couldn't be immediately determined if Noguera has a lawyer.

Police are still searching for a red 2016 Mazda 3 sedan with a Florida plate reading 372QQK they believe to be connected to the case. If anyone sees the vehicle, they are asked to call Easton Police at  (508) 230-3322 or Massachusetts State Police detectives at (508)-717-4238.
