Will Brady, Belichick Have Impact On How New England Residents Vote?

FOXBORO (CBS) -- Donald Trump says Tom Brady and Bill Belichick endorsed him--and that has Foxboro voters fired up.

"Belichick and Brady are good at what they do, but don't have any influence on me on my political opinion," voter Rob Canfield said.

On the eve of the election, Trump read a letter he said was written by Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, a fact later confirmed by WBZ-TV's Steve Burton.

"Hopefully tomorrow's election the results will give the opportunity to make America great again," Trump said the letter read.

Trump also said Tom Brady called and gave him permission to say he voted for the republican candidate.

"He called today and said Donald I support you, you are my friend and I voted for you," Trump told the audience.

A photo of Brady was taken yesterday after handing in his absentee ballot at Brookline Town Hall. Brady posed for pictures with workers at the town hall, but the Patriots quarterback has not publicly said who he voted for.

On a photo Bündchen shared on Instagram, a follower wrote "Gisele I heard you and Tom were backing Trump. Is that true??"

Bündchen replied to the commenter saying, "NO!"

In recent months, Trump has touted Brady among his "great friends" while the quarterback had a "Make America Great Again" hat in his locker. In an interview Brady gave back in 2015, he said he hopes Trump has what it takes to win.

"I hope so. It would be great. There would be a putting green on the White House lawn I tell you that," Brady said.

All laughing aside, Foxboro voters are weighing in.

Voter Julie Lasoff said she thinks Brady and Belichick would influence an undecided voter.

"I think so," she said. "Anyone who's a sports fan or probably who loves Brady."

But voter Stephanie McGowan disagreed.

"Tom Brady can vote for whoever he wants to, and while I love him and the Patriots, I can't support Donald Trump," she said.
