Chris Long Offering Up Patriots-Seahawks Tickets To Benefit 'The Waterboys'
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots don't take the field again until November 13 when they host the Seattle Seahawks, and Chris Long wants to see you there.
In fact, the defensive lineman will even hand deliver a pair of tickets to you. All you have to do is make a donation to his foundation and help support a great cause.
Long, who is enjoying his first season as a member of the Patriots, is known for his energetic play on the field. Off of it, he's turned his attention to providing clean and accessible drinking water to rural communities in East Africa.
Since making a trip to Tanzania in 2013, Long has become an advocate for water rights in East Africa. Along with WorldServe International, an organization he paired up with during his time with the St. Louis Rams, he's launched The Waterboys initiative to drill water wells for the people who need clean water the most.
"A lot of good people take clean water for granted. It doesn't make you a bad person, it just makes you unaware of the issue, realizing that we have so many blessings in this country, one of them being access to clean water," Long told WBZ-TV in an interview for Sunday's Patriots GameDay. "Water-born illnesses put so many people in the hospital; we're talking about half of the world's hospital beds occupied by people dealing with things based on the lack of clean water. The efficiency of our world, once you learn about it, you realize if we all got behind this we could improve the world so much, not to mention save lives."
The goal is to install 32 wells representing each of the 32 NFL teams, and Long is doing so by encouraging as many players and fans as he can to get involved. By donating $25, you'll be entered for a chance to win tickets to the big Patriots-Seahawks showdown next weekend (plus a ride to and from the game).
