Report: Bergeron Injured At Bruins Practice, Game-Time Decision In Florida
BOSTON (CBS) -- Bruins center Patrice Bergeron will be a game-time decision as Boston takes on the Panthers in Florida on Tuesday night. Head coach Claude Julien said that Bergeron was injured after Monday's practice.
Bergeron was not present at the Bruins' Tuesday practice session. The team called up forward Sean Kuraly from Providence on an emergency basis.
The Bruins suddenly find themselves drastically thin up front if Bergeron does not play against the Panthers, as David Backes also remains out as he recovers from a minor procedure on his elbow. David Pastrnak will serve the second of his two-game suspension on Tuesday. Brad Marchand, David Krejci, and Danton Heinen comprised the top line at Tuesday's practice.
Bergeron has played in just five of the Bruins' eight games so far in 2016-17 and scored just one goal, having nursed a lower-body injury at the start of the season. It's unclear what happened to him on Monday.
Tuukka Rask was the first goalie off the ice at Tuesday's practice, making him the likely starter on Tuesday night in Florida. He will have a major test in front of him with the Bruins' depleted roster. The Panthers sit at 4-4-1 on the season, but are 3-1 at home.
