Framingham Police Recover Over 100 Firearms In Gun Buyback Event
FRAMINGHAM (CBS) -- Framingham's first gun buyback event brought in more firearms than police expected.
More than 174 rifles, assault rifles, shotguns, handguns, pellet and BB guns, and ammunition were turned in to police on Sunday. Someone also turned in a defused grenade, according to police.
According to police, the unwanted firearms are brought to the State Police ballistics unit where they are discarded.
Those turning in weapons and ammunition received gift cards worth various amounts. Police said at one point they ran out of gift cards and had to get more.
