Police Search For Suspect In Attempted Kidnapping

BOSTON (CBS) – Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a girl in Roxbury Tuesday morning.

"She's pretty scared, she shaken up," said the girl's stepfather, Hector Rodriguez.

Rodriguez says she was just steps from her MBTA bus stop Tuesday morning when she was grabbed from behind.

"She kicked him in the leg to try and defend herself," Hector said. "She started screaming and then somebody came to her rescue and the guy let her go and started running."

Boston Police say the man, captured on surveillance video shortly thereafter, is a person of interest in the attempted kidnapping.

It happened just before 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Blue Hill Ave and Brookford Street in Roxbury as the girl was making her way to school.

Neighbors nearby say they were awoken by an unmistakable sound. "I heard like this scream that made me jump out of my bed and I went to the window," said a neighbor who did not want to be identified. "And when I went to the window I could see a young girl talking to an older guy."

"She's running, looked to me frantic this is devastating," the woman said. "This is very scary."

From now on, Hector Rodriguez says his stepdaughter won't be walking alone. And in the meantime, he'll be out walking, trying to find answers. "If anybody can hear me, if anybody knows that person, please report him because it was my child, it could be your kids too," Hector said.
