QUINCY (CBS) – Four men rocked the boat when they allegedly broke into the USS Salem, and now Quincy Police are looking for them.
Police said four men who appear to be in their early 20’s broke into the USS Salem on Oct. 9. Because of the boat’s historical significance to the town, Quincy police are on the hunt for the ship break suspects.
The USS Salem was stationed in Quincy in 1945, leaving for various stints as the flagship of the US Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean and the Second Fleet in the Atlantic. After some time away from its home port, the USS Salem returned to Quincy in 1994, where the ship has stayed docked at 739 Washington Street ever since.
Police identified the suspects as four white men appearing to be in their 20’s. The first suspect has brown or black hair and was wearing a grey sweatshirt, dark pants, and a watch on his left wrist and a bracelet on the right.
The second suspect has a shaved head and wore a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. Suspect three has brown hair and wore a light sweatshirt, dark pants and possibly has facial hair. The final suspect wore a light hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap and dark shorts.
Police are urging anyone with information on the suspects to reach out to Quincy Police Detective Jim Menz at 617-745-5768 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
