Video Shows Vontaze Burfict Stepping On Leg Of Patriots' Blount

BOSTON (CBS) -- When Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount got up and shoved Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict after scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter on Sunday, it looked like an overreaction to a team known for "baiting" opponents. Now, it's clear that it was Burfict who had crossed the line.

The NFL is already reviewing Burfict's low hit to the back of the leg of Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett, but a new video clip has emerged that shows Burfict appearing to deliberately step on the leg of Blount as the running back was on the ground in the end zone after scoring a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Tom Brady appeared to notice the egregious act as he pointed it out to officials.

ESPN's Mike Reiss tweeted the video, which was provided by the NFL:

Burfict could face another suspension from the league offices and not just a fine as the incident with Blount gets factored in. Burfict sat out the first three games of the 2016 season due to repeat violations of player-safety rules, and the hot-headed linebacker appears to have failed to learn his lesson.
