Woman With Gun Taken Into Custody After Standoff At NH Home

CANDIA, N.H. (CBS) – An armed woman was arrested after police say she barricaded herself in a New Hampshire home while her 12-year-old daughter was inside.

Police were called to North Road in Candia around 8 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving a report of a despondent woman, later identified as Deborah Deslongchamps.

Responding officers heard a gunshot from inside the home upon arrival, and soon learned that the woman's daughter was still inside the house.

North Road was closed off and surrounding police departments responded to help.

Within an hour of police arrival, the young girl was able to safely escape through a side door of the home.

At the same time a gunshot was heard from in the house. A short time later, Deslongchamps emerged from the side door with a gun in hand.

Police ordered her to drop the weapon, which she did. But she then walked back into her home.

A State Police SWAT team responded to the area, and at about 11:30 a.m. Deslongchamps was taken into custody.

Deslongchamps is charged with reckless conduct, false imprisonment, and endangering the welfare of a child.

She is being held without bail while receiving a mental health evaluation.
