Carrabis Source: At Least One Red Sox Player Prefers Torey Lovullo Over John Farrell

BOSTON (CBS) -- Barstool Sports' Jared Carrabis joined Zolak & Bertrand on Thursday for his weekly chat, and after revisiting what went wrong in the ALDS, the conversation ended up focusing on manager John Farrell.

While everyone on the outside has their own opinions about the abilities of the Red Sox manager, the opinions of the players inside the clubhouse carry a bit more weight.

And so, Marc Bertrand asked Carrabis if the guys in the clubhouse like Farrell.

"I don't know if I should break this here," Carrabis said, before coming around. "Without naming any names, I talked to a player who's very concerned about the Red Sox letting Torey Lovullo interview with other teams. And I said, 'Well, why are you so concerned about this?' And they were basically just like, 'Well, he's awesome.' And I was like, 'Would you prefer him over John Farrell?' And it was basically like a ... it was an affirmative. It was a no-brainer."

Marc Bertrand asked for clarification: "As in, the answer was 'of course'?"

"Yes," Carrabis replied.

Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski confirmed on Tuesday that Farrell will be returning as the team's manager for 2017, though he said a decision has not yet been made with regard to the team option on 2018 for the manager. Dombrowski also said that Lovullo, the bench coach who last year signed an agreement waiving his right to interview as a manager for other clubs, will be free to interview with any team that asks this offseason.
