The Cleveland Browns have had to change their quarterback three times already this season and came into today with rookie Cody Kessler under center. The Patriots defense was likely licking its chops coming into today’s match-up against the rookie. Kessler was able to lead the Browns on a touchdown drive in the first quarter, but then things went downhill in a hurry.
After the second Patriots TD of the day, the Browns were backed up inside their own ten when the Patriots sent a blitz up the middle and hit Kessler hard as he tried to throw a quick swing pass to his running back. That pass went backwards out of the end zone resulting in a safety.
Kessler was injured on the play.
