WAREHAM (CBS) — A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle while walking across Route 28 in Wareham Monday night.
Police responded to Cranberry Highway where they found 56-year-old Ernest Robert Raddatz seriously injured on the roadway. Raddatz was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Police say the vehicle fled the scene before they arrived. Witnesses say Raddatz was struck by a white Ford pickup truck which turned around after striking him and drove away.
“His tires spun and he just drove off as fast as he could,” said Eli Kovacevich, who heard the crash. “He didn’t look back.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call State Police.
