Sturbridge Police Hope To Catch School Vandals 'Red-Handed'

STURBRIDGE (CBS) – Police are hoping to catch whoever intentionally released hundreds of gallons of liquids at a Sturbridge school red-handed.

On Sunday night, police discovered that a liquid had been drained from several 250 gallon tanks at Tantasqua Regional High School near the football field.

Firefighters found that the liquid was not hazardous.

School officials and firefighters met, deciding it was safe for students to return to school when the week began.

During the investigation police determined the liquids were intentionally released from the large tanks.

Officers believe the incident took place sometime between 2-5 p.m.

"One of the substances that leaked was a red substance that would easily be seen on clothing or skin," police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sturbridge Police Department or administrators at Tantasqua Regional High School.
