Wilmington School Superintendent Resigns After OUI Arrest
WILMINGTON (CBS) – The superintendent of Wilmington schools has apologized and resigned after she was arrested on a drunk driving charge.
Police arrested Mary DeLai in August, but members of the School Committee say they just found out about the incident.
According to the Lowell Sun, DeLai failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .19 when she was arrested on August 25.
On Monday night, the School Committee held an emergency meeting that lasted three hours. DeLai announced her resignation after the meeting.
DeLai was criticized last month for allowing a teacher charged with domestic assault to return to the classroom.
