FOXBORO (CBS) – A Massachusetts State Police trooper was hit by a motorcycle near Gillette Stadium after the New England Patriots game on Sunday afternoon.

The trooper has serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. He was conscious as he was taken to Boston Medical Center, a police spokesman said.

The incident happened at about 4:25 p.m. as the trooper was working a traffic detail at a parking lot on Route 1.

Police say troopers on foot were trying to stop the 2009 Ducati motorcycle driver in parking lot P6. He then started driving against traffic, going south in the northbound lane to flee from troopers, according to police.

Authorities said that when the motorcyclist reached the P8 lot, he struck a trooper trying to stop him.

One witness got a good look at the suspect after the impact.

“The officers were working on him, checking to see if he was all right” Chris McDonald said. “It looked like once they found out  he was all right the officers looked like they sat him up and prepared him to bring him into custody.”

The motorcyclist, identified as 25-year-old Jose Perez-Rodriguez of Everett, is in state police custody and will face charges, officials said. He was also taken to a hospital, but the extent of his injuries are not yet known.

The crash is still under investigation.

Trying to avoid & evade detention & hits a cop. Take him to a remote part of the desert Southwest, tied to about 150′ of rope and taken via pony express type ride across the tumbling tumbleweed, snakes & scorpions. Oops, did the rope shred. Enjoy the long walk back to civilization from deep in the middle of nowhere loser.

One hopes our Trooper recovers with no recurring , lingering issues . It would be interesting to measure the resentment generated through knee jerk , adrenaline supported reactions to driving W/O the usual license , insurance , passport , etc. fueled through a healthy endocrine system but an immature , both socially , and painfully , blindingly , obviously in the little details of not making a bad situation worse .
Finding the quality and the measure of resentment for the laundry list of errors in judgement made by “One 25 Y/O Jose Perez-Rodriguez” profits us by leading our thoughts less into the richly deserved punishment for Mr Perez-Rodriguez , and into the resolve that addresses the issues that create a felony out of a “Stupid” traffic violation .
