2000-Pound Pumpkin Smashes Record At Topsfield Fair

TOPSFIELD (CBS) — A pumpkin weighing over 2000 pounds set a new record for the heaviest ever weighed at the Topsfield Fair.

Steve Connolly, of Sharon, grew the pumpkin which came in at 2,075.5 pounds. Another one of Connolly’s gourds won the giant pumpkin contest at the the Rochester NH Fair last week. That pumpkin weighed 1,944 pounds.

Connolly broke the Topsfield record twice before. In 2000, he showed up with a pumpkin that weighed 1,009.6 pounds — the first to break the 1,000 pound mark. A decade later, he came with one that weighed 1,674 pounds.
