Police Share Frightening Crash Video To Warn Of Hydroplaning Dangers

BOURNE (CBS) – After months of extreme drought, Massachusetts drivers may find it hard to remember what it's like to drive in the rain.

But with wet weather in the forecast for this week, police in Bourne are reminding motorists that even a little water on the roads can make for a very dangerous situation.

With this morning's rain and additional rain in forecast, please use this video as a reminder to please slow down when the roads are wet. This video was recorded from the civilian dashboard camera of one of the vehicles involved in a crash on July 14, 2016. In this crash, a vehicle, travelling eastbound on Scenic Highway, lost control and hydroplaned on the wet roadway, crossing into the westbound travel lane. The eastbound vehicle then struck two westbound vehicles, one of them "head-on". The crash forced a fourth vehicle off the road. Six people were transported to the hospital as the result of this crash, amazingly, all with minor injuries. If the roads are wet, reduce your speed please.

A total of four cars were involved in the crash, but fortunately it only resulted in minor injuries. Still, police want drivers to be extra careful when going out in the rain.

"If the roads are wet, reduce your speeds please," police said.
