Princeton Residents Heal Amid Unsolved Murder Of Vanessa Marcotte

PRINCTEON (CBS) -- On a picture perfect September Saturday, a town still hurting took one more step toward healing.

Signs promoting 20th annual Princeton yard sale shared space of others appealing for justice for Vanessa Marcotte, the young jogger found brutally murdered seven weeks ago. Marcotte's body was discovered unclothed and burned in the woods.

"I think in the beginning it was a shock from what I was gathering from everybody, everybody was locking up and closing down," said Princeton native Tracey Briggs-Annetts. "Then we became a town again and I think we've relaxed a little bit, we're just doing it a little bit more cautiously but we're not gonna let it beat us."

It's been more than a month-and-a-half and the scars remain for many, including Princeton resident Sarah Davis.

"We were all nervous, people locking doors, people trying to stay together," said Davis. "There are many people who are runners and they want to run together now other than single, but we're hoping for the sake of the family that this case is solved."

"The community comes back together again and carries on, but we don't ever forget," said Davis.
