Part Of Route 128 To Close For Weekend In November

NEEDHAM (CBS) – Attention drivers who use Route 128 in the Newton-Needham area: Part of the highway will be closed for the first weekend in November.

MassDOT says it needs to shut down a section of Route 128/I-95 to let crews tear down the old Highland Avenue bridge. According to officials, it’s not safe for cars to be traveling underneath while that’s happening.

The closure will take place from Friday night, Nov. 4 through Sunday, Nov. 6. It’s all part of the ongoing project to widen the highway to four lanes.

Traffic will be diverted to local roads during the closure, but the detour information hasn’t been announced yet.

Officials say there will be signs, police details and a social media campaign to raise awareness of the closure.
