Camera On Duck Boat Captures Woman Being Struck

BOSTON (CBS) – A woman suffered non-life threatening injuries after she was hit by a Boston duck boat in an incident that was captured by a camera aboard the tourist vehicle.

The crash took place in the area of Arlington and Boylston Streets around 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

Boston Duck Tours released surveillance footage of the crash, which appears to show a woman walking in from of the tourist vehicle without looking.

It does not appear the woman entered the road in a crosswalk.

"Boston Duck Tours is committed to operating safely, and we have made recent investments to maintain our fleet at the highest safety level possible," the company said. "We are doing our part and are working with the City, but pedestrians also have to do their part, for everyone's safety. Stepping off the curb into traffic, not at the crosswalk, without looking and without warning, puts everyone at risk, our passengers included."

Wednesday's crash was the latest in a series of incidents involving Boston Duck Tours.

In April, a moped driven by Alison Warmuth collided with a duck boat, killing the 28-year-old.

About three months later, another woman was struck by a duck boat in the Back Bay. The company said she did not have a crossing signal.

Then in August, another duck boat crashed into a Storrow Drive overpass. The driver reportedly diverted because Beacon Hill was blocked off.

In recent months, lawmakers have discussed changes to address duck boat safety.
